Nobel Prize in Physics, 2008
The Nobel Prize in Physics for the year 2008 has been awarded to three lifetime contributors in Physics by the Nobel Foundation. Yoichiro Nambu, Makoto Kobayashi, and Toshihide Maskawa will share this year’s Nobel Prize in Physics. Yoichiro Nambu is from USA whereas Makoto Kobayashi and Toshihide Maskawa are from Japan.
Yoichiro Nambu got this Nobel Prize for his discovery of the mechanism of spontaneous broken symmetry in subatomic physics. Makoto Kobayashi and Toshihide Maskawa are awarded with this prize for the discovery of the origin of the broken symmetry which predicts the existence of at least three families of quarks in nature.
