This year, three contributors in Medicine or Physiology are announced as Nobel Prize winners by the Nobel Foundation. Harald zur Hausen from Germany, Françoise Barré-Sinoussi and Luc Montagnier from France will share this year’s Nobel Prize for Medicine.

Harald zur Hausen is awarded a Nobel Prize for his discovery of Human Papilloma Viruses causing Cervical Cancer whereas Françoise Barré-Sinoussi and Luc Montagnier are awarded Nobel Price for their discovery of Human Immunodeficiency Virus.
