What do you need?
There are two important things you need, to make a successful order. They are: an eligible PC and a proof of purchase receipt. Eligible PC is required to initialize the order process, whereas, you can submit proof of purchase until March 1, 2009.

How to order?
Once you initialize the order process, it does not take long to accomplish it. In the first step, you have to agree to submit your PC’s serial number and other information and then choose your country. After you press next, the web interface will ask the purchase date and a retailer/reseller to verify if they match the eligible requirements of HP. Then the interface will prompt with question like: “your serial number?,” “Product ID?” and so forth. After it verifies that your PC is eligible to make a new Windows 7 upgrade kit order, it will ask your billing and shipping address. Then it will take you to a payment details page, where the total amount must sum to 0 (as it is free upgrade). If that is zero, you are ready to make an order. Before that, it will ask you to submit proof of purchase. In case you do not have one right now, you can choose to submit that later.

Proof of Purchase for Online Purchases
If you purchased an eligible PC online and do not have a purchase receipt, there is nothing to worry about. Just call your merchant and tell them you want to order a free Windows 7 upgrade kit but you do not have a purchase receipt. They will handle the remaining task for you.

Receive your package
Once your order is successful and you submit the proof of purchase, HP will ship your Windows 7 packages through DHL and USPS (combined service). The package should arrive within 7 days of order complete date. The package you receive should contain two DVD discs. Read details on those disks before proceeding to your free windows upgrade.
